Motivation

1:51 AM

Hey everyone.

How have you guys been? Lately, I've been feeling a little low on the motivation department.
Recently I've moved to Lisbon, so now I'm in a sort of adaptation phase, I don't have my usual models and I don't know pretty places to shoot, which makes it a bit hard. Plus, I keep browsing everyone's work and they're all doing amazing pictures... and I end up feeling like a little pile of poop. Either way, I still love to photograph and I believe that I will keep doing it, even if someday I end up not sharing it online anymore. I hope my motivation comes back, though...

Oh, by the way, I've been featured at makemehappytoday. :)

Anyways, here's another pack of pictures with my lovely friend Graça.

As usual... "hope you like them".

Have a nice sunday!

  1. I believe that almost every artist is their harshest critic. My passion is writing, I often find it difficult not to compare myself to others and wonder how I measure up. I think what happens sometimes is we'll reach a consistency in our work for which people will regularly and very openly express their appreciation. Sometimes it's hard not to wonder if that praise is warranted or borne of simple kindness. This has been my experience anyway; there are several pieces that never would have made it into my book without encouragement.

Your photography has been nothing short of exquisite Teresa, I've thought so since I first laid eyes on your work. I may be wrong but I think what significantly contributes to the outcome is inspiration and preparation. Finding a vision, the right location and model. I've seen photographers who are very prolific, and while their body of work may be good it doesn't stay with me. There's great care and passion that goes into your photography and it shows.

I can understand if you feel pressure to produce more. But I'm sure that most people who are familiar with you are happy to wait, because they know what they see next will be as good as the last set. I think too that although the move to Lisbon was an upheaval it will lend a new flavour to your work, with new faces and settings.

As for this shoot? Wonderful. I'll always love the contrast of the harsh underbrush and a soft feminine form. Graça is simply beautiful.

Oh, I stumbled across Madison Dubé tonight. Amazing! I don't see any way to comment on her wall but I can definitely see you drawing inspiration from each other.

It's good to see you back here, I hope this finds you well and that you're enjoying your weekend.

  4. Regardless of the quality of other photographers, I think your photos are great and that you are such a talented artist.
It has been many times where I looked at a photo (in addition to the excellent songs you play on your site) and just imagined me there.

I'm very sorry to hear you are thinking about not posting anymore, and I feel like it would be a great loss to everyone if you do.

I hope you get your motivation and spirit back and find new shooting sites quickly.

  5. Muy bonitas, Teresa, como siempre :-)
He oído que Lisboa tiene rincones preciosos, es cuestión de acostumbrarse. Yo también acabo de cambiar de ciudad, de país,..y sé lo duro que es

  6. I get what you mean - moving is both exciting and tiring. But Lisbon is a fine place, you'll find a lot of places to shoot there.

You're definitely NOT 'a little pile of poop'. Not even the slightest bit you are!

  18. I'm in the same boat when it comes to being motivated to take pictures. I haven't taken a picture that I've liked in nearly 3 months. Nothing really motivates me where I live, but still I try. You should check out Meri Bjorn and Lissy Elle, two of the photographers I've been looking at recently. Give it time and Lisbon will inspire you.

    Get motivated!
